People come to the sunshine state for the lush tropics, sandy beaches and the way it seems like an escape from the norm… and for the nudist resorts!
It will come as no surprise that the balmy weather and relaxed attitude of one of our favourite US states has resulted in a great choice of places to let it all hang out. After all, where there is sun, there should be nudity – in many people’s minds, they’re a match made in heaven.
So in between exploring the wilderness of inland Florida, going wild on the roller coasters, partying in Fort Lauderdale and free driving down the Overseas Highway to Key West, you can enjoy the exhilarating feeling of the warm breeze on your skin at one of these chilled nudist resorts in Florida.
These are all open to everyone – gay, straight or unicorn – and it’s worth noting that naturism is not about sex, but more about letting everything free without any judgment. And you certainly won’t find any of that judgment here!
In this article we will cover...
Cypress Cove, Kissimmee
Whether you’re a first-time nudist or you’ve been doing it so long you’ve forgotten what clothes are, Cypress Cove resort is a dream for you. With every possible amenity you can imagine on site, you don’t ever need to leave the resort if you don’t want to! You’ll find a great bar and restaurant, two divine swimming pools and two Jacuzzis.
If this isn’t enough already, you could also get a relaxing massage at the spa or enjoy views of the on-site lake. There is also amazing night time entertainment including themed parties, DJs and live music. The team here are committed to making sure everyone feels welcome and safe – it’s an aim they certainly achieve! It’s family friendly and fun, well worth a visit for anyone who’s keen on the idea of freeing the body while experiencing the highlights of Orlando…
Paradise Lakes Resort, Pasco County
This gorgeous resort sprawls over 72 acres and wins a place on our list of best nudist resorts in Florida for its ‘take off as much as you are comfortable with’ policy. This makes it ideal for any newcomers to the nudist community, taking away the pressure of having to strip down from the get-go.
The poolside cabanas are comfortable and clean. Enjoy a drink with new friends at the Key West Bar where you can have a bite to eat in the heart of all the action – or PL Hemmingway’s restaurant is a bit more formal (still clothing optional!). We love the range of events, from movie nights to games to dancing. You’ll certainly never be bored!
The Woods RV Resort, Land O Lakes
As you might guess from the name, this is a great resort to enjoy being bare in the woods. Green palm trees and foliage surround a clubhouse on the lakeside where you can find a space to socialise with other folk enjoying the clothing-optional way of life. You can rent a RV lot – or even buy one, if you get fully immersed in the buff life.
The lots are set around an attractive pool area where you can hang out with new friends. The staff here just want guests to be comfortable and enjoy the nudist experience, so there’s a relaxed atmosphere with lots of returning guests.
Sunny Sands Nudist Resort, Pierson
Since 1963 this North Florida resort has provided a welcoming and family friendly place to hang out in the nude and enjoy a relaxing holiday. With a bit more of a rustic feel, these 42 acres are a place for you to sunbathe by the pool, sip a cocktail at the bar or even do a round of golf in the buff on their 9 hole course (new bucket list item, am I right?).
There are lots of different accommodation options, from camping to mobile homes to rental units, so whatever type of holiday you want, you can find it here. It’s set among plenty of natural beauty but if you do want to throw on some clothes and head to a city, Orlando and Jacksonville are a short driving distance away.
Eden RV Resort, Hudson
You’ll have noticed by now that RVs are a common theme among nudist resorts in Florida! Perhaps this is because naturists are such chilled people, they don’t require fancy digs? Or that they simply prefer to be outside than in a hotel room? In any case, this charming resort is another brilliant, family oriented option for those looking for a clothing optional vacay.
Choose to sleep in a tent, a trailer, a park model or a single room apartment – all are well-equipped and comfortable. Outside you’ll find 11 acres of Floridian greenery and a sizable pool where you can make friends with fellow haters of clothes!
Lake Como Family Nudist Resort
One of our favourite nudist resorts in Florida for its expansive pool area with a view over the lake, the 200 acres of this Tampa Bay facility are well-protected and welcoming. We appreciate how good the security is and how efficient and friendly all the staff are. It was once a 50s motel and still retains some of the quaint features of that time, but with modern comforts and more naked people!
Stay in one of the cottages or a camping trailer. Spend your days exploring the acreage on one of the hiking trails or lounging by the pool; in the evenings you can head to the restaurant or the ‘Butt Hut’ bar where there’s sometimes live music. Be brave and join a volleyball tournament – who hasn’t always dreamed of volleyball in the buff?
Suwannee Valley Resort, White Springs
Although this is reserved for 21s and over, there’s nothing sleazy about this clothing optional resort set in stunning surroundings. It’s on the banks of the Suwannee River so you have some lovely views from the nature trails and decks. Private cabins, RVs and park models are all cute and comfy, not to mention near all the pool action!
The whole vibe is open and accepting, with no one caring what you look like with no clothes on (such a myth of nudism that everyone has to be super-fit!). If using the pool or spa then you’ll have to be in your birthday suit, otherwise, it’s optional. With a huge range of activities if you like to be busy on holiday and a lovely pool if you’d rather lounge or try these yoga poses for men. No matter what you came here looking for, you’ll probably find it and quickly come back for a second visit.
Riviera Naturist Resort, Pace
The private cabins at the Riviera Naturist Resort in the Florida Emerald Coast might be basic, but it’s not like you’ll be spending much time in them. With a pool, hot tub and sauna to chill in, as well as a range of activities and games, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy for your entire stay.
The atmosphere is laid-back, with no pressure to party or rush around if you don’t want to. Guests often comment positively on how quiet it is and how friendly the people you meet are, and that’s certainly true. Shed your clothes and enjoy watching your tan lines fade!
When you first arrive at Hidden Lake, you’ll be taken aback by the peace and quiet, not to mention the stunning views over the lake. One of the calmest nudist resorts in Florida that you will come across, your cares disappear as quickly as your clothes. The team here want guests to feel equally comfortable whether it’s their first time stripping down in public or they’re seasoned nudists; they also appreciate that the weather might play a part in the decision!
Head out on the private fishing lake in a paddle boat and soak up the atmosphere, or swim in the Blue Lagoon. There’s even a stretch of sandy beach to sunbathe on. You’ll receive a warm welcome from other guests, all of whom are non-judgemental and just enjoy being natural in nature. You will too!
SunSport Gardens Naturist Resort, Loxahatchee Groves
This is truly a family oriented nudist resort – they even have a calendar of children’s events and a youth camp! – where you can fully give in to the call of nature and how to enjoy it as naturally as possible. We’re not going to lie, there’s a bit of a hippy vibe, but if you don’t mind that then you’ll enjoy the drum circles, arts festivals and healthy food at the ‘Naturally Nude Café’.
Spending the day reading in the shade of a tree, floating in the pool or doing some sport; all without the restrictions of clothing. It’s no wonder that people come back time and time again; because once you stay here one time you’re part of the family. It helps that it’s set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, of course!
