The section of Davie Street between Burrard and Jervis Streets is referred known as “Davie Village,” but be careful to peek around the corner into some of the area’s side streets as they also contain some hidden treasures. Coal Harbour
Downtown’s residential area’s northernmost portion is known as Coal Harbour. It is one of the city’s wealthiest neighborhoods. Retirees and Older professionals make up the majority of the population. It consists of condos in high-rise buildings with quick access to the sea wall and marina.
You can rent a two-bedroom condo for up to $2,500 per month or more depending on the view and other aspects. Coal Harbour is a pleasantly quiet little neighborhood on the water’s edge while being close to downtown. Thanks to its industrial past as a historic shipyard situated near the railway terminus, it is all the more remarkable.
The neighborhood begins with Canada Place and extends west to Stanley Park. The Vancouver Convention Centre and condo buildings are both located in Coal Harbour and make a lovely blend of commercial and residential areas.
You can find locals and tourists interacting on the Seawall in this region, as well as neighborhood restaurants and cafes, a marina, and the occasional harbor seal floating around and beckoning to onlookers.

A unique queer Improv Comedy night bringing laughter to festivals, events and a weekly show to Vancouver every Wednesday night at the Junction. They are a not-for-profit society dedicated to creating a queer community that creates, supports, enjoys, and teaches improv theatre – and a great way to get involved in the local queer scene without drinking.
Vancouver Gay Volleyball Association

For those who are fleeing persecution due to their gender identity, sexual orientation, gender expression, and/or HIV status, Rainbow Refugee supports safe, fair immigration and a community of belonging.
The organization assists refugees and those requesting refugee status in Canada with information, support, and system navigation. In cooperation with other like-minded organizations in the Rainbow Coalition for Refuge, they oversee the Rainbow Refugee Assistant Partnership, which enables them to sponsor refugees privately.
QCHAT is an LGBTQIA2S+ organization founded to provide referral services and peer support to youth living in the province. The organization was founded by peer volunteers from all around British Columbia.
The volunteers for QCHAT are queer and/or trans people in their thirties and younger. The organization recognizes that while each person’s experiences and life are unique, trans and queer people have their own special insights into the world.

What out as a small weekend gathering of gay ski enthusiasts in 1992 has become one of the largest queer-focused ski weeks in the world. The biggest festival of its kind in Canada and welcomes guests from around the globe. Revelers enjoy an unparalleled mountain experience and world-class event programming hosted by a team of friendly ski & snowboard guides and festival staff. This is Canadian hospitality at its finest.
Taking place for one week in late Jan every year, join them for a packed winter sport, culture, and entertainment roster. Each day begins with daily guided ski/snowboarding groups followed by a free festival après skis at the host hotel and nightly entertainment programming. Located a 1 hour 40 min drive from Vancouver.
The longest-running gay rubber weekend in North America (possibly the world). The first Rubbout in 1992 was billed as “A weekend of Rubber Events” and included a Friday meet & greet, a Saturday play party, and a Sunday Potluck dinner with demos.
This successful format continues today with a few minor improvements. In 1994, brunch replaced Sunday’s potluck dinner and over time additional events were added like a swap meet, puppy play, and workshops. Attendance has grown to around 160 weekend pass holders and over 250 people at the Saturday night party. Rubbout will likely set new attendance records in 2021 when it celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
The Vancouver Queer Film Festival (August)
A vibrant space for queer arts, culture, and community. It showcases dynamic and thought-provoking films from British Columbian filmmakers as well as other Canadian and international directors and storytellers.
As Western Canada’s largest queer arts event, the Festival curates films that contextualize and celebrate queer lives and experiences and prioritize foregrounding diverse identities in their communities, including narratives from trans people, queer people of color, and Indigenous people.
