While most of us are aware of the iconic rainbow flag, there are many more LGBTQ pride flags that symbolize the diverse sex, sexuality, attraction, and gender identities within our beautiful queer community.
Even while most LGBT people continue to identify with the LGBT rainbow flag, many also want to fly their own flag alongside it.
You can imagine like the rainbow flag is like the national flag: everybody’s underneath that. But each group, like each state, has their own individual flag. Because, you know, representation is fundamental!
The Rubber Pride Flag is one such flag, which you may have seen flying at any number of pride celebrations throughout the world, from Montpellier to Edinburgh to Denver…or anywhere in between!
Like many other kink communities, the rubber/latex fetish community members have a flag to express their preferences and passion. While popular with gay men and often seen at pride parades, rubber pride is not exclusive to any gender or sexuality.
It was created by Peter Tolos and Scott in 1995, who have said that:
- Black represents the lust for the look and feel of shiny black rubber.
- Red represents the blood passion for rubber and rubbermen.
- Yellow represents the drive for intense rubber play and fantasies.
Oh, and there is also a literal kink in the design of the rubber pride flag, which totally makes sense!
