Lovely place considering it’s a hostel. I wouldn’t usually book and stay at a hostel but wanted to stay where my son’s sports team was and I was pleasantly surprised at everything. My ensuite room was just perfect for what I needed this weekend.

We typically have terrible experiences when staying at hotels, but not at Ohtel! We had such a wonderful experience at this small boutique hotel. Staff is so welcoming and accommodating (everything from requesting milk preferences prior to arrival so you have what you need in the morning, to a late check out to coordinate with our mid-afternoon flight). We stayed in one of the suites with a large spa-like soaking tub. Rooms are decorated in a fun retro style but still felt contemporary and inviting with views of the park and harbor. Our reservation included breakfast, which was lovely (eggs, skillet potatoes, bacon, roasted tomatoes, sourdough bread) completely cooked to order. Location of the hotel is a short walk to restaurants, grocery store, Te Papa museum, etc. Ticked every box!

we had a short one-night stay here. the hotel is furnished with a really eclectic vibe. the room itself was quite spacious and had extra amenities like drinks and snacks. i wish that we were there to check out the bottle shop/bar when it was open but it was closed for the holiday. appreciated the free coffee and hot croissants in the morning as well.

This is a great Capital city to visit, it has a heart, easy walking to anywhere and on a good day you can’t beat Wellington. There are many attractions to see and with the railway station in the city as well, you can get out and about around the outer reaches of Wellington. Such a neat place to visit.

A pretty quirky little city.
A pretty quirky little city. Don't come if you can't take the cold (just bring a coat!) but an interesting mix of old and new in this national capital hanging off the side of a mountain. Driving on their skinny roads winding around the back blocks admiring the old architecture was a lot of fun (just dont be in a hurry!) For Americans, it's like a little San Francisco, for Australians, you could be in Hobart!

We struck awesome weather & where we stayed in the CBD was walking distance to Te Papa, Waterfront, Restaurants, Bars, Supermarket, Convenience Stores, Cuba St, Courtney Place & Cable Car. Waterfront was a gorgeous walk with beautiful scenery. Streets were clean, not crowded & easy to get around. Gallipoli Display at Te Papa was our highlight, a must do for all ages. Abundance of choice with Restaurants catering to all needs. Cable Car ride was quick but worth it for nostalgia & views. We only stayed a couple of days & plan on going back to stay so we can visit the Weta Workshop & Zoo.

Loved the three-hour tour of the city snd south coast on a stunning day. Views from Mt Victoria are incredible. The rose garden in the Botanic Gardens is gorgeous. The cable car is always fun. Te Papa is wonderful, especially the Gallipoli exhibition. Our American friends were very moved. Loved shopping in Courtenay Place. The breakfasts in the atmospheric arcade of the old Bank building were delicious and we went up to watch the wonderful old clock do its thing twice! Fortune Favours is excellent for beer tasting and burgers. The Library has amazing atmosphere and out-of-this-world cocktails. In Cuba Mall, the bucket fountain is fun, and the leek and potato soup at the character-filled JJ Murphy’s was tasty. Boulcott Street Bistro is amazing. Atmosphere, service and food is top-notch. We were lucky to visit on a Monday when theTaittinger is half-price! The Crab Shack is in a great location on the waterfront with tasty food, but the Greenland snow crab is very expensive. Karaka Cafe is in a beautiful spot with lovely food and great Kiwifruit cocktails. It was also nice to support the Maori youth employed there and they’re doing a great job.

The main reason for our short trip to Wellington this time was to dine at El Matador and Scopa in Cuba Street.
Both serve delicious food 😋
We love the Welly vibe and will be back soon 😊

Helpful front desk. Large comfortable hotel rooms, many with a small balcony so you can opt for a little fresh air rather than air-conditioning. Ten-minute walk from Hotel to center of town and shops. Hotel is in great location for public transport. A five-minute walk to Wellington Rail Station which includes shuttle bus to InterIslander Ferry going to South Island - Picton. Wellington Airport access is also easy with "Airport Express - AX" bus service available close to Wellington Rail station.
Location is perfect for our travel. Walking distance to the places we need to go to. Easy to locate via public transporation. From Wellington airport, shuttle vans can bring you directly to the hotel for a relatively cheaper price than an airport taxi.
The room that we got was just right for 2 people but the bed was pretty good and comfortable.
All in all, it was a good option for the price we paid for
Had a wonderful couple of days in central Wellington. Even though the hotel is right in the centre of the city, our room was quiet. Also clean, well appointed and spacious. Parking was fantastic although we walked everywhere once we arrived at the hotel.
The room was excellent and well maintained. The hotel also has a restaurant that provides a splendid breakfast service. Overall, I had a fantastic time in the city, and Oaks Wellington was a great contributor to that.
