Indonesia’s capital, sprawling Jakarta has hurtled into the 21st-century at a startling rate. Rapidly expanding, it is an eclectic mix of cultures with an electric clubbing scene including the EX at Plaza Indonesia mall and those near Blok M mall, popular with expats. Jakarta shopping is great, with modern malls all over, interspersed with traditional markets, some underground.
Thousands of Jakarta restaurants and cheap street food provide tourists with tons of choices. Little Japan is best for sushi (and karaoke), while colorful Chinatown has fantastic dim sum. Buzzing around all are bajaj, Indonesia’s equivalent of tuk-tuks.
The main Jakarta sights include Monas National Monument in green Merdeka square. Spectacularly lit at night, it has a deck with fantastic city views. Opposite is the presidential palace, patrolled by the national guard. The oldest part is Batavia – the city’s Dutch Colonial name – and is home to the Jakarta History Museum.
Away from the bustle is Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a suburban park celebrating Indonesia’s rich culture through museums, dance and film, centered around a large lake with Indonesia-shaped islands. Ancol Dream Park also features waterparks, beaches and amusement rides.
Traffic can be manic, so leave time after checking out of your Booking.com accommodation in Jakarta to get to Soekarno Hatta or Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

If you have a personal-click, if you do need to be there, or if you have things to do its a very interesting city no doubt, If it is only for holiday fly away as soon as possible. Try any other Airport to enter Indonesia and start from there.
I love jakarta! The smell, the people, the vibs and the life and humor. I can't help it I have a personal click and come back over and over again. But I will never promote Jakarta.

It's always interesting to see a nation's capital — but other than that, there's not much to be said for Jakarta. The old city is a bit grim – must likely because the whole city is literally sinking, in particular the waterfront region. There are slums all over the place — as we found out when we accidentally walked into a very dangerous one while searching for a Sim card. We planned for a 48 hour layover just to get a sense for the place, and it was 40 hours too long.
The main enjoyable thing is going to malls. Personally as a European, mall culture isn't really something that's huge where I'm from and I wouldn't normally advocate it. In Jakarta it's a huge part of the culture of the middle class (there's a great Guardian article on the topic) and they're worth seeing. Also because they're pretty much the only enjoyable thing we found to do there.

went to Jakarta to celebrate New Year 2024 and it was my first time here. Did not know that I could really fall in love with Jakarta. Despite the heavy traffic in some area, they have a very beautiful buildings, monuments and it's modern. Also, the people here are very welcoming and helpful.

Everybody complains about Jakarta's traffic, but in the half a century I have been visiting the city has grown to have an efficient and very clean transport system. The architecture is stunning. A succession of governors have worked hard to improve the city's walkability and provide clean and green facilities for sport, exercise and safe pedestrian facilities. Try the Sunday car-free walk/run/bike experience taking in the length of the Sudirman to Thamrin thoroughfare. Modern air-conditioned malls have empty high-end fashion outlets (who shops there?) and lots of eating houses and cinemas that draw in crowds of middle-class families "hanging out".

Jakarta is a very busy and large city, it’s spread over a large area. We stayed 2 nights which was enough for just. We visited Kura Tua the old town which is where all the old buildings are which was quite a nice area. I’m not sure I would bother spending much more time there
Very pleasant hotel, nice staff, spacy room with a nice view, very good bed, tasty Indonesian breakfast with different free options for directly made different side meals.
It is a 4* hotel that feels like a very welcoming Homestay.
With Covid-19 in 2021 i had to stay 7 days in my room of this hotel so i didnt see anything outside my room and i couldnt use the swimming pool.
It was the main reason to comback to this hotel to see what i had missed then.
Now i am coming back for the second time to this hotel as i like the atmosphere very much.

Everything! The staffs, the service, the room are all perfect. The location is strategic as walking distance to Grand Indonesia and a few other malls. Thamrin City is just opposite. At night we just Grab the food and collect at lobby. Very convenient. It was raining during our stay and the staff send lend us the umbrella and follow us til Thamrin City’s entrance to collect the umbrella. The service is exceptional and I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next stay.
I liked the courteous and supportive front desk as well as other hotel staff. Very helpful to our needs and serving with a smile as well as catering to any special needs regarding food or just anything.
I would like to give my special thanks and mention the staff @Viola; @Reflika; @Cheppy; @Indah for their attention and kind support to make our stay a memorable one.
Appreciations and best wishes !!
This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in with excellent infrastructure and extremely helpful and cheerful support staff, particularly the front office. The breakfast was sumptuous and included continental and local offerings. The hotel is directly connected to a Shopping Mall with a number of good local and international restaurants. All in all a great place to stay not far from the airport.
We loved the unique concept of the hotel interior, blending Indonesian and Western cultures and design elements; amazing breakfast, especially Indonesian health drinks, local fruits, selection of dumplings, cheeses, Japanese breakfast choices; we loved the pool on the 4th floor; we loved the location and, amazing staff members; unforgettable view, super comfy pillows and blankets.
I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights on the 11th floor and the staff were friendly, service were excellent. The room was absolutely clean and comfortable. Bathroom was spotless. And not to forget the room service are so polite and friendly.
They are also very strict about covid-19 protocol, which is amazing! Even the room cleaning service were in full APD. 5 stars for that!
Great location, hotel is 15 min walk from Indonesia Shopping Mall. Rooms are quiet and good sleeping quality. Bathroom is a little small, but overall impression is good.
Staff was great and helpful. Very good breakfast, which offers local and European buffet. Hotel restaurant works quite late, good local food, but European dishes are very small size
It is centrally situated , close to some of the tourist attractions . The mall of Indonesia is within a short walking distance if you go through the Lotte Supermarket which is across the hotel . We enjoyed the Spa -very professional and affordable. There is a pool and a kid’s play area .
privacy … the hotel is exceptional ..in many ways .. the service, the food, the many areas full of antiques, the library, the Gamelan musicians - who actually had my Indonesian wife sit in with them.
I highly recommend the Japanese restaurant …
I’ll be back
Staff were warm and welcoming. The hotel is in a strategic location. 10mins walk to Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indo and Thamirin City. They have good breakfast and even a rooftop bar. They have 24hr room service which I love the most .
Excellent location
The hotel lobby was very hard to find cause it's a big hotel u have to go through several underground parking an all due to the stadium near by
Excellent area probably one of the best in jakarta
Great place to stay. I loved how it was so close to Grand Indonesia. From the room to the staff to the breakfast, wow just amazing. It has a prayer room and a gym. This hotel was new and felt more like a 4 star.
Hotel location is in central Jakarta and within walking distance to the Bank Indonesia (the Central Bank). Rooms are spacious and clean although a bit oudated. Beds are comfy. The staff are polite and adept.
The location was good & strategic.near to plaza indonesia & tamrin mall.1km from hotel to tanah abang grocer.wifi speed very fast.next time i will stay again with my family.
Fancy hotel, nice breakfast. To be honest, the little things would make it 5 stars to me like fixing loose tap in the bathroom or tighten the loose hanger on the door
