FAQs about hotels in Brighton & Hove

Colourful by Day and Night

Known for colourful nightlife and traditional English seaside pursuits, Brighton and neighbour Hove are the closest beach resorts to London, making them popular end points for classic car runs from the capital. Many end at the racecourse, a few streets from Brighton Marina, Europe’s largest, housing several shops and eateries. Many Brighton guest houses on Booking.com are also nearby.

Running along the beachfront is the world’s oldest operating electric railway, ending by Brighton Pier. Lit up at night and also known as Palace Pier, this city icon houses amusements and rides, and is one place to pick up some famous Brighton Rock, the confectionery sharing its name with an edgy Graham Greene novel set here.

A new addition, the Brighton Wheel is right by the pier, while one of its most famous attractions is the Royal Pavilion, a former royal retreat built in Indian style.

Just west are 2 of the most popular Brighton shopping spots – Churchill Square shopping centre and The Lanes with its narrow streets and unusual shops. This area also has several Brighton hotels with parking, and the Artists Quarter, a series of ex-fishing huts that are now galleries. The arts are a big thing here and Brighton Festival is the UK’s 2nd largest arts festival, while Brighton Pride is also a big event on the annual calendar.

Brighton is a lovely town, from my experience people have been welcoming and kind. The beryl bikes system makes it easy to move around the city. They have a big queer community, which is, I believe, very nice and enjoyable and makes the experience super safe for any queer folks. Although, be aware that it smells like grass quite often. The pavilion and the museum are great. Fish and chips are cheap and good, which is nice. Be careful around the beach tho, the seagulls and pigeons are quite ravenous and brazen, they'll snatch your food right out of your hands if you're not careful. Lots of little art galleries along the beach, which is quite lovely.

We have been to Brighton lots of times before.

We have been to Brighton lots of times before. We revisited the Pavilion which was excellent. We had fish and chips on the pier also good. It was the school holidays so the shopping area was very busy. As we are pensioners we made full use of our bus passes on the excellent bus service travelling several times between hove, Brighton and Worthing. We out out at an excellent Persian restaurant called Shiraz in Hove.

Great beaches, perfect for relaxing on. Shops are great and I loved wandering around and exploring the local area, the lanes and Brighton Pier. Amazing selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. If you’re looking for delicious pizza, Al Forno’s is amazing! Freshly made and super friendly staff! I walked everywhere during my visit but there are plenty of buses if you need to get around. Lots of attractions such as the sealife centre, zip line etc.

I'm a regular visitor, the live music is the main attraction for me with many great venues. Superb pub culture and selection. Then in the summer months nothing better than a lazy day on the naturist beach, in the evening a few drinks and some great food in the many restaurants and cafes. Best place ever for people watching.

If you are looking for the old type of guest houses, this is the place. The house is old and looks old, some of the doors have space under so anyone can fit anything inside easily. The room had traces of water infiltrations on the wall, the toilet seat was yellow in Room 8 looking as if it hasn't been changed in years. The room is little with minimal space to move. Sufficient for one night but wouldn't book again. Perhaps if they would refurbish the place. Thank you for trying.

Brighton , is an interesting town , however it’s a bit run down and littered . It could do with a thorough clean and more bins should be available to the public. I would also suggest families check the bathrooms of restaurants before ordering food . My favourite restaurant to visit is Casa don carlos and I go there everytime I visit Brighton . Fab Tapas restaurant.

absolutely brilliant accommodation for any students wanting to stay in brighton over the summer! the building is located in central brighton, a short walk from the beach, shops and clubs on the seafront. the room itself was comfortable, clean and modern, plus staff were friendly and helpful (they even stored our luggage after checkout since our train home wasn’t until later that evening!). the building itself seems pretty accessible too, with ramps/lifts where necessary! overall a brilliant room, well worth the cheap price!

Great location right on the seafront. Central to city center and next door to Brighton events center. Hotel very grand a little tired in places. Main staircase the carpet was thread bare and tape covering it up. Hotel room was lovely and spacious with tea, coffee and complimentary water which is not often seen. Bathroom on the surface was clean but when you looked a little harder this also could have been revamped.

Absolute stone's throw from the station which as I mainly use this hotel for work is extremely convenient. The rooms are very spacious often having a work area and sometimes a sofa area. For the very, very cheap prices this hotel is very much worth staying in if you just need somewhere nice to crash. Discount sauna experience next door is a nice touch and lot of good restaurants and bars nearby

The location was good, near to Preston Park and about a 25minute walk to the centre/seafront. The room was ideal and good value for money. I did not bother with the breakfast. There are shops and pubs nearby and obviously more as you get nearer the centre. The area had a very safe and civilised feel to it. Brighton is one of the best places in UK I have been to, if not the best.

We found this basic accommodation in Brighton Pride weekend. The receptions and staffs are approachable, friendly and helpful. Great location near to beaches. We had a double room on 3rd Floor, spacious with a large double and a single bed, good seafront view. The bed and mattress very comfortable. Would love to come back YHA on our next visit. Overall this is a lovely hotel. The staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you. Unfortunately the location although close to the sea, does attract the less desirable elementsof Brighton. That said we didn’t have any problems If you decide on a stay at The Charm, do yourselves a favour and book some treatments at the Spa. I had the best massage and facial EVER.

Really lovely hotel, we booked a hotel room and an apartment for our group of 5. Both were great, clean and comfy, and the apartment had everything we needed to make breakfast in the morning. Location was perfect and the spa was lovely too. It was my birthday and the hotel gave me a delicious box of chocolates and a complimentary drink, which was a really nice touch.

Have stayed here before and will be back again! Fab location, best prices and great room, this time a huge old fashioned room with bay windows and armchairs with coffee table! The hotel is on the sea front and in the lanes, yet is one of the cheapest in the area. Also I can say the breakfast is the best on the seafront outside of the 5* Grand!
